Step 1 — Prepare the Ground
-
Level the ground along the entire length of the trellis run.
-
Dig all post holes at the required spacing.
-
For 1800mm-wide trellis panels, holes should be 1800mm apart (centre to centre).
-
-
The depth of each hole should be approximately one-quarter of the total trellis height.

Step 2 — Set the First Post
-
Place at least one-quarter of the post into the hole (e.g. 600mm in the ground for a 2400mm post).
-
Use a level to ensure the post is upright and square in all directions.
-
Cement the post into place using quick-setting concrete (e.g. Quickcrete), following the manufacturer’s instructions.
-
Allow the concrete to fully set before continuing.

Step 3 — Install the First Panel
-
Once the concrete has dried, position the first trellis or fence panel against the post.
-
Ensure the bottom of the panel is 10–20mm above the ground (use temporary packers if needed).
-
Check that the top of the panel is level.
-
From the back side, screw or nail the trellis frame to the post—placing fixings at the top, middle, and bottom.

Step 4 — Set the Next Post
-
Position the next post at the opposite end of the installed panel.
-
From the back side, screw or nail the trellis frame to the post (top, middle, and bottom).
-
Use a level to ensure the post is upright.
-
Cement the post into place with quick-setting concrete and allow it to dry.

Step 5 — Continue with Additional Panels
-
Repeat the process for the next panel:
-
Maintain a 10–20mm gap from the ground.
-
Ensure the panel is level along the top edge.
-
Fix it to the post using screws or nails at the top, middle, and bottom.
-

Step 6 — Set the Final Post
-
Install the last post following the same process as in Steps 2 and 4.
-
Secure the final trellis or panel in place from the back side.
-
Check all posts are level and firmly set.
-
Allow the concrete to dry completely.
